Good-by-Devicing offers a new understanding of how controversies over the energy transition unfold and are co-produced by the devices deployed. By shedding light on how concerns for ‘the social’ are marginalised, and through which devices and networks of expertise, this new understanding can serve to explore other situations where valuations of what should ‘matter’ in the design of societal transitions collide with other concerns.
